My husband is the salad lover at our house suprisingly he can eat plain spring mix by the buckets. The kids and I definitely need a dressing and some color to make a salad exciting for us! This Asian broccoli slaw salad checks both boxes for us! It's bright and colorful and the dressing is delightful!

    Frequently Asked Questions

What is broccoli slaw made of?

The slaw itself is made from shredded broccoli stems, cabbage, and carrots. Dressings for a traditional broccoli slaw salad are typically mayonnaise and vinegar-based. This recipe takes on an Asian twist with the sesame and ginger dressing.

Can you eat raw broccoli slaw?

Yes you absolutely can! Prepared mixes are already washed and prepped but you can rinse it again if you like! Dry it with paper towels or a salad spinner before using it in this recipe.

    Is broccoli slaw healthy?

Broccoli slaw itself is healthy. It's the dressing that you use will determine how healthy it is overall. A homemade dressing like the one used in this recipe helps to keep it cleaner and healthier without processed ingredients.

    Expert Tips

    • You can add additional toppings like slivered almonds, crispy ramen noodles, green onions or even experiment with other herbs like basil or cilantro!
    • Dress the salad and consume it immediately after preparing or the salad ingredients will become soggy. Undressed salad can be kept in an air tight container for up to 4 days. Dressing can be kept refrigerated in a mason jar for up to 7 days.
    • This recipe makes a great meal prep salad for lunch. Divide dry salad into 4 containers. Add a protein of choice on the side of each salad. Divide dressing into 4 single serve salad dressing containers.
