Ingredients

  • 8 Oreos chocolate sandwich cookies
  • oil based candy white, yellow, pink and light blue
  • ½ cup Belgian white chocolate melted, tinted white (Easter Bunny)
  • ½ cup Belgian white chocolate melted, tinted yellow (Easter Chick)
  • ½ cup Belgian white chocolate melted, tinted pink (Easter Egg)
  • ½ cup Belgian white chocolate melted, tinted blue (Easter Egg)
  • assorted sprinkles
  • pink sanding sugar

Instructions

Easter Bunny Oreo

  • Heat ½ cup of white chocolate in a small, microwave-safe bowl until it melts by using increments of 20 seconds and stirring until it becomes smooth.
  • Mix in white candy color until the desired color is achieved. Take an Oreo cookie and dip it into the melted chocolate using a fork, allowing excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl.
  • Place the chocolate-covered cookie on a wax paper-lined plate or cookie sheet. While the chocolate is still wet, add 2 black nonpareil sprinkles for the eyes and a pink heart sprinkle for the nose.
  • Using a piping bag, put a tablespoon of melted white chocolate in it and create 2 ears and 2 bunny paws on the wax paper.
  • Sprinkle them with pink sanding sugar and put the plate in the freezer for 10 minutes to let them set. Once set, remove the ears and feet from the wax paper and attach them to the bunny Oreo using more melted chocolate. Allow it to set.

Easter Chick Oreo

  • Heat ½ cup of white chocolate in a small, microwave-safe bowl until it melts by using increments of 20 seconds and stirring until it becomes smooth.
  • Mix in yellow candy color until the desired color is achieved.
  • Take an Oreo cookie and dip it into the melted chocolate using a fork, allowing excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl.
  • Place the chocolate-covered cookie on a wax paper-lined plate.
  • While the chocolate is still wet, add 2 black nonpareil sprinkles for the eyes and an orange round sprinkle for the nose. Carefully add 3 orange Jimmie sprinkles to create each of the chick's feet.
  • Allow it to set.

Easter Egg Oreo

  • In two small, deep, microwave-safe bowls, melt ½ cup of white chocolate in 20-second increments and stir until it becomes smooth.
  • Mix in pink candy color in one bowl and blue candy color in the other bowl until the desired shade is achieved.
  • Dip an Oreo cookie using a fork into the pink chocolate, allowing the excess to drip back into the bowl.
  • Place the dipped Oreo on a wax paper-lined plate. Repeat the process with another Oreo using the blue chocolate. (This will result in two Oreos of each color.) Put the plate in the freezer for 10 minutes to set.
  • When the Oreos are set, put a tablespoon of the melted pink chocolate in a piping bag. Use the piping bag to create a zig-zag pattern on the Oreo, then cover it with sprinkles while the chocolate is still wet. Then, pipe a line across the Oreo and cover it with sprinkles. Repeat the zig-zag pattern at the bottom of the Oreo to complete the design and cover it in sprinkles.
  • Repeat the process with the remaining Oreos, making sure to add sprinkles to the piping while the chocolate is still wet. Allow the Oreos to set.

Notes

expert tips

  • To prevent overheating, it is recommended to heat the chocolate in 20-second increments in the microwave.
  • If you prefer, you can use colored candy melts instead of Belgian chocolate, but make sure to use only oil-based candy coloring for chocolate, as gel color can create uneven streaks.
  • This recipe can be doubled if you need more Oreos, and the Oreos should be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.
  • Children will enjoy helping with this recipe and adding sprinkles as a finishing touch.
  • When adding sprinkles to the cookies, tweezers can be used, but be careful not to clamp them too tightly to avoid breakage.
  • If you plan to gift these Oreos, ensure they are fully set and packaged in a single layer to avoid smudging. The bunny ears can be delicate, so if one breaks, it can be fixed with melted chocolate and covered with more sanding sugar. Refrigerate briefly to set.
